  • Lions Win First Round Thriller

    MIDDLETOWN, Pa. – Senior shortstop Paige Zechman (Robesania, PA/Conrad Weiser) has played a lot of softball and recorded plenty of hits during her four years at Penn State Harrisburg.  None, however, were more memorable than her walk-off, RBI double in the first round of the North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) championship tournament on Friday, May 4.  The Lions, the South Division’s number two seed, downed Cazenovia, the North Division three seed, 6-5 in an eight-inning heart stopper.

  • NEAC Softball Tournament Rundown

    MIDDLETOWN, Pa.-  Penn State Harrisburg followed up its record-setting season a year ago with another strong campaign in 2012.  The Lions finished 18-20 overall and 12-8 in North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) play.  Thanks to their solid outing this spring, the blue and white earned a berth in the league’s championship tournament as the South Division’s number two seed.  The Lions also enjoyed some postseason accolades when junior pitcher/outfielder Kara Boyd (Alexandria, PA/Juniata Valley), freshman outfielder/pitcher Gabby Wolfe (New Milford, PA/Blue Ridge) and senior catcher/outfielder Emily Pae (Harrisburg, PA/Susquehanna Township) earned NEAC all-conference first-team honors.  This weekend, the ladies travel to Keuka looking to take home the trophy and earn an automatic NCAA Division III Tourney bid. 

  • Boyd, Wolfe, Pae Named to All-Conference First-Team

    MIDDLETOWN, Pa. – On Wednesday, May 2, the North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) announced its women’s softball all-conference selections.  Penn State Harrisburg found itself well represented on the South Division’s list of top performers.  Junior Kara Boyd (Alexandria, PA/Juniata Valley), freshman Gabby Wolfe (New Milford, PA/Blue Ridge) and senior Emily Pae (Harrisburg, PA/Susquehanna Township) were named all-conference first-team honorees.

  • Lions Take Wilson to the Limit On Senior Day

    MIDDLETOWN, Pa. – Friday, Apr. 27 was the Penn State Harrisburg softball team’s senior day and the Lions turned in a performance that the seven members of the class of 2012 can be proud of.  The blue and white took North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) leading Wilson to the brink of defeat, nearly giving the Phoenix its first conference loss of the season.  In the team’s home finale, the Lions fell to the visitors 3-0 in game one before dropping a 5-4 extra-inning heartbreaker in the night cap. 

  • Boyd, Gates Honored By NEAC

    MIDDLETOWN, Pa- Penn State Harrisburg juniors Kara Boyd (Alexandria, PA/Juniata Valley) and Kristyan Gates (Hanover, PA/Hanover) have been named the North Eastern Athletic Conference’s (NEAC) Women’s Softball Student-Athletes of the Week for the time period ending Sunday, Apr. 8.  Thanks to her outstanding performance at the plate, Boyd picked up the honor for a second consecutive week and the third time overall this spring.  Gates was strong inside the circle on her way to earning the conference’s pitching accolade.
