  • Lions’ Season Ends In Semifinals

MIDDLETOWN, Pa.- After defeating SUNYIT in a first round game on Tuesday, Nov. 1, Penn State Harrisburg’s 2011 season came to an end with a 1-0 loss to eventual tournament champion Penn State Abington in the North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) semifinals on Saturday, Nov. 5.  Penn State Harrisburg, the tournament’s number three seed, held Abington, the number two seed, scoreless for over 60 minutes. But the Lions were unable to answer Brianna Heck’s (Willow Grove, PA/Archbishop Wood) goal in the game’s 64th minute and ultimately fell to their opponents.

  • Five Ladies Earn All-Conference Status

MIDDLETOWN, Pa.- Five Penn State Harrisburg women’s soccer players earned all-conference status on Wednesday, Nov. 2.  The North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) named freshman defender Lindsey Haldeman (Grantville, PA/Hershey Christian) to the league’s all-conference first team.  Senior forward Jessie Manion (North Wales, PA/North Penn) and freshman defender Bridget Brady (Boyertown, PA/Brandywine Heights) earned second team all-conference honors while senior defender Lacey Eitl (Collegeville, PA/Perkiomen Valley) and freshman forward Nikki Francis (Pottstown, PA/Owen J. Roberts) were voted third team all-conference selections.

  • Lions Blank Wildcats; Advance to NEAC Semifinals

MIDDLETOWN, Pa.- Penn State Harrisburg’s strong 2011 regular season (9-4) earned the Lions the number three seed in this year’s North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) championship tournament.  That seeding gave the blue and white home field advantage for their first round game against conference foe SUNYIT on Tuesday, Nov. 1.  Unfortunately for the visitors, the Lions refused to play the role of good host.  Freshman Tina Martino (Essington, PA/Interboro) scored the decisive goal midway through the first half and the ladies played solid defense the rest of the way to best the Wildcats 1-0 and advance to the NEAC semifinals.

  • Lions Honor Seniors With Big Win

MIDDLETOWN, Pa.- Penn State Harrisburg’s players, coaches and fans celebrated the careers of two of the squad’s four-year leaders in Lacey Eitl (Collegeville, PA/Perkiomen Valley) and Jessie Manion (North Wales, PA/North Penn) prior to the Lions’ contest with SUNY Cobleskill on Sunday, Oct. 23.  Appropriately enough, the two young ladies made their presence known and had a lot to do with the team’s offensive output that led to a convincing 4-1 victory on Senior Day 2011.
