  • Lions’ Historic Season Ends In NCAA Tournament

    MIDDLETOWN, Pa. – The Penn State Harrisburg men’s tennis team’s 2011-2012 season came to an end in the first round of the NCAA Division III Championship Tournament when the Lions fell to Grove City 5-0 on Friday, May 11.  After earning the first NCAA berth in program history, the blue and white wrapped up its spring at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, MD.

    2012 PSH Men's Tennis Team With NAC Plaque

    MIDDLETOWN, Pa. – Penn State Harrisburg won its second straight North Atlantic Conference (NAC) championship on Saturday, May 5.  What makes this year’s win sweeter than the last?  This year’s title comes with the league’s first-ever automatic NCAA Tournament bid.  The Lions, champs of the West Division, bested East Division winner Colby-Sawyer 6-3 in Latham, NY over the weekend to earn the tennis program’s first trip to the NCAA’s Regionals.

    MIDDLETOWN, Pa. – Penn State Harrisburg’s men’s tennis team punched its ticket to the NCAA’s Division III Regional Tournament with a win in the North Atlantic Conference’s (NAC) championship match on Saturday afternoon, May 5.  The Lions, winners of the league’s West Division, bested East Division champ Colby Sawyer 6-3 to clinch their second-straight conference crown and secure the tennis program’s first-ever NCAA tourney berth.

     

  • Lions Earn Plenty of Conference Accolades

    MIDDLETOWN, Pa. – Penn State Harrisburg’s 7-2 win over North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) foe Penn State Berks on Saturday, Apr. 28 clinched the Lions their second straight North Atlantic Conference (NAC) West Division championship.  The blue and white didn’t celebrate their victory.  Instead, they went back to work the next day in the division’s individual tournament.  The Lions were strong again and their great showing earned all-conference honors for all six of the young men taking part in the championship tourney.  Making the outing even sweeter was the fact that Josh Cartmill (Carlisle, PA/Cumberland Valley) was named NEAC Player of the Year, Vishnu Gopalakrishnan (Ashburn, VA/Briar Woods) earned Co-Rookie of the Year status and Head Coach Becky Cecere was voted the league’s Coach of the Year by her peers.
