As part of the college’s yearlong 50th anniversary celebration, Penn State Harrisburg donors were recognized at a special Capital Society gala on Friday, April 28 at the Hilton Harrisburg. The gala, held annually, celebrates the generosity and commitment of the Capital Society.
This event highlights the successes of the past year and honors those whose generosity has helped to ensure a promising future for the college. Guests enjoyed good food, networked with other philanthropic leaders, interacted with students, and learned about the future of Penn State Harrisburg. Dr. Mukund Kulkarni, chancellor; Dr. Madlyn Hanes, vice president for Commonwealth Campuses; and Mr. O. Richard Bundy III, vice president for Development and Alumni Relations, lead the crowd in wishing another 50 years of growth and success at Penn State Harrisburg.
Through the past year, benefactors came together to support the college’s 50 for 50th Campaign. The goal of which was to directly impact at least 50 additional students in the 50th anniversary year through philanthropy. At the gala, it was announced that the goal was exceeded, with over $3.9 million secured to support Penn State Harrisburg students.

Philanthropy continues to be a driving force behind Penn State Harrisburg’s growth and success. Private support has enabled the college to expand access to a world-class education through scholarships; develop innovative academic programming; build state-of-the art learning and research facilities; enhance honors education; immerse students in international study tours; and create a vibrant campus environment that reinforces and complements the classroom experience.
